    In a food processor, combine basil, toasted pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan, salt, and lemon zest (if using). Pulse to chop.

    Transfer pesto to a saucepan on low heat. Stir in the heavy cream and pepper. Warm for 2–3 minutes without boiling.
