    Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add sausage, break up with a spatula, and brown for 5-6 minutes. Transfer sausage to a plate.

    Add diced onion to the skillet. Sauté for 3 minutes until softened, then add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute more.
