Instructions

  1. 1
In a skillet, brown Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking up with a spoon until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  2. 2
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 1/4 cup Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Stir to blend.
  3. 3
Lightly coat the crock pot with nonstick spray. Spread 1/3 of marinara sauce and crushed tomatoes on the bottom.
  4. 4
Layer half the uncooked pasta, half the ricotta mixture, half the browned sausage, and 3/4 cup mozzarella over the sauce.
  5. 5
Repeat layers: add another 1/3 of sauce, remaining pasta, the rest of ricotta, sausage, and 3/4 cup mozzarella.
  6. 6
Pour remaining sauce on top. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. 7
Cover and cook on LOW for 3 hours, or until pasta is tender and cheese is bubbly.
  8. 8
Let rest 10–15 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh basil before serving.
