    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.

    In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

    Add the egg and molasses to the butter mixture, beating until well blended.

    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.

    Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat.
